Buying the right boat is all about taking some time to figure out what you want to do with it.
A Sports Cruiser is the natural step up from a bowrider or a sports cuddy, and it’s all about spending more time on the water, taking more people along with you, and crucially, not having to head home at the end of the day if you don’t feel like it.
It can however be possible to lose something in that move up to a bigger boat. If you go for something too ‘grown up’ I think that you can lose the connection with the water that you might have fallen in love with to begin with.
It’s why owners of larger cruisers often have more fun in their tenders than they do on the big boat!
If you are looking to make the step up to a Sports Cruiser but you still have a love for watersports, swimming off the back of the boat and lounging around the cockpit all afternoon, this Larson Cabrio 240 could be the boat for you.
The reason I say this is because this Larson 240 has probably the biggest and most comfortable cockpit that I’ve seen on a 24ft sports cruiser. It rivals many a 26 or 28 footer and it’s really well laid out.
The fold away bench seat at the transom means that you can easily clear the deck if you’re swimming or wakeboarding off the back of the boat. The fold flat sun lounger on the port side makes a huge area for sunbathing or lounging around and the cockpit wet-bar means you can easily entertain upstairs without traipsing up and down stairs to the galley.
The 2-tier extended swim platform, along with the 260HP Motor and Bravo 3 drive, also means that this boat is an ideal big watersports machine.
It still has a standard 4 berth cabin downstairs with an enclosed heads/shower compartment and a good sized galley; and while the forward berth isn’t the biggest in class I reckon it’s a very small price to pay for such a fantastic cockpit.
The best thing is that all of this comes in an easily trailerable package, complete with a 4 wheel UK trailer so you can take the fun with you when you fancy a change of scenery.
If you’re making the step up to a Sports Cruiser this season then this Larson Cabrio 240 should definitely be on your list.
