This is a very smart, well equipped example of the ever popular Quicksilver 640 Pilothouse.
We sourced and supplied this boat to her current owner around 6 years ago when she had 50 hours on the clock. Since then the boat has spent each season on a berth opposite mine in our local marina. I therefore know the boat very well.
Owned by a passionate leisure angler, who would regularly run up to 20 miles offshore, the boat has been very well cared for and kitted out for long days on the water.
After a day on the water, I would regularly see the owner washing the boat down and hooking up the motor to the marina water supply for a fresh-water flush… all signs of a conscientious owner who has an close eye on the reliability and longevity of his rig. The engine has been religiously serviced every year and is running well.
The 115HP Fourstroke motor is the biggest power option for this hull, so she delivers excellent performance to go along with her 4-stroke refinement and fuel economy. The boat will cruise happily and economically at 18 knots, but she can hit a top speed approaching 30 knots if you need to outrun some bad weather or get home in a hurry.
With a seaworthy hull and all the equipment you’d need (Chartplotter, Fishfinders, VHF, etc, etc) this boat makes an excellent coastal fishing boat, that’s equally at home being used as a small family cruiser.
As well as taking very good care of the boat the current owner also made a few useful upgrades, including a twin battery system (so you have enough power to run your electronics all day and start the engine to get you home) and a fresh water system so you have plenty of water on board for making the tea and washing up. The onboard porta-potti and convertible v-berth also means you could spend the night onboard if the notion takes you.
This Quicksilver Pilothouse 640 is an excellent family fishing boat for this part of the world and this one, with all the extras and a twin axle trailer, has to be one of the best spec’d examples available. If you’re considering a peche promenade boat like a Merry Fisher 625, Beneteau Antares 650, Arvor, Ocqueteau, Parker, or even an open-top fisher like a Trophy or Sea Fox, then this Quicksilver 640 is well worth considering.
