If you regularly get any of the boating magazines, you’ll know that at least every other issue there is a feature about Mediterranean boating. It’s usually in a hugely expensive boat that’s just a bit out of our reach at the moment, but it’s nice to dream all the same.

If you’re anything like me, your holidays in the sunshine are spent in and around the water wishing you had your own boat on holidays with you.

I know we certainly have more fun in a couple of days with a little hire boat abroad, in unbroken sunshine and clear blue seas, than we might have in a month of boating back home.

But yet for the vast majority of us the Med boating dream remains just that… a dream!

Tantalisingly out of reach.

And we make all sorts of excuses for not pursuing it. We think it’ll be too difficult to organise. Too hard to find a good boat out there or too expensive to transport our boat to the sun. The running costs will be astronomical. Too hard to find a good marina berth that’s convenient to an airport. The list goes on and on.

Maybe it might just be a whole lot easier than all that…

I am attuned to figuring out the secrets of success in life and business, and I’ve observed one important behaviour that is shared by almost all of the most successful people I know.

By successful, I mean people who are living their dreams. While they certainly have money in the bank, they’re not necessarily multi millionaires but they’re enjoying themselves, having a great time, and lighting up the world around them.

And this primary thing they seem to have in common is that they get shit done…

They don’t talk about doing things forever. They have an idea and they just act on it.

It gets done.

It might not always work out but they are giving it a bash. And if it doesn’t work out they quickly move on to the next thing.

A good friend and customer of mine certainly falls into this category…

He started talking last year about getting a boat in Med. I actively engaged in the conversation as I always do… “Yeah, that’s the way forward. Some day…”

That’s where we left it. I thought it was a casual pipe dream just like all the others I’d heard.

We’ll about 4 months later he called me up to say he was on the way to Spain to buy a boat.

No messing about…

That was it.

Done.

He put a big tick in the ‘Med boating’ checkbox on the old bucket list.

It turned out that he found himself a great boat and a fantastic spot to keep it.

And more than that, he and his family are loving it so much that he’s now keen to upgrade to something bigger and he’s asked me to sell the boat for him.

It’s a beautiful part of the world and a great place to sample the delights of Med boating.

The big thing for me with this boat (and the whole lifestyle package) is the sheer value on offer. With the berth only costing €1,500 euro for the year it’s around half the cost of what you’d pay at home. The transport links, facilities, and weather are all fantastic.

I can’t think of a better way to dip your toe in the Med and try it out for real.

All this is to say nothing about the boat!

It’s a great entry level cruiser, with a spacious cockpit and cabin. Excellent Med spec with Air Con and Generator and it’s in lovely condition throughout.

P.S. It’s not something that I talk about a lot, but one of the reasons I love my job and boating so much is the people that you meet. Boaters tend to have a whole different attitude to life than your average person on the street. I think that’s the case even more so when you’re boating in the Med alongside a load of other people who’ve had the guts to go live their dreams… Even on my short stay on the Sea Ray 275 out in Sant Carles, I met some really interesting people and my horizons were definitely expanded. There’s a great vibe out there. Suffice to say that the whole Med boating thing has just jumped a lot higher on my priority list!
